Ex-Rindge official has temporary role
MASON — Former Rindge Town Administrator Carlotta Pini will be working in a temporary capacity for the town of Mason for the next few months, according to Mason Select Board member Charlie Moser.
Pini left her position in Rindge in mid-October. According to a severance and general release agreement signed by Pini and the Rindge Select Board Oct. 18, Pini resigned her position as Town Administrator in order to not be fired by the town’s Select Board. The severance agreement notes that Pini’s leaving is considered by the town to be a forced resignation.
Pini currently works for Municipal Resources, Inc., a Meredith-based company that provides professional, technical, and managerial support services to towns. The Mason Select Board contacted Municipal Resources to provide a temporary employee to fill the shoes of the town’s Administrative Assistant, Barbara Milkovits, who has been out on medical leave since the end of October, said Moser. The town does not have a Town Administrator position.
Since Milkovits has been out on leave, town employees including Milkovits’ assistant Martha Ward and the Deputy Town Clerk Suzanne Kelly have been putting in additional time to try to fill the gap, said Moser, but the town had a real need for someone with more experience and time to focus on the Administrative Assistant duties.
“Barbara was our primary office person, and she has a depth of knowledge no one else has,” said Moser. “Carlotta had the experience as Town Administrator and Administrative Assistant in Rindge. We were happy to have someone with her experience.”
Pini was provided by Municipal Resources as a temporary employee at the end of December, said Moser. She has been working in the office part-time, approximately 16 hours a week, though it is an as-needed position, he said. The town pays Municipal Resources $50 an hour for her services. Pini’s insurance and benefits are paid by Municipal Resources.
Moser said the town does not anticipate having to contract for Pini’s services for longer than two more months. At that point, he said, Milkovits should be able to take back her position full-time.
The Mason Select Board will meet next tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Mann House.
