Hancock Police Log: April 1, 2014
Thursday, March 20
Accident: At 3:10 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Route 202 near Peterborough Road. According to police, Sydney Esper, 18, of Rindge, who was driving north, pulled her 2000 Ford Focus into the breakdown lane and then attempted to start a U-turn. As she did, her car ran into the side of a 2013 Honda CRV driven by Sandra Cleary, 66, of Bennington, who was also northbound. No one was injured. Both vehicles had moderate damage and were driven away. Esper was issued a ticket, charging her with making an illegal U-turn.
Assist: At 4:08 p.m., police assisted Bennington police on Greenfield Road in Bennington. A man with issues was taken by Bennington police to Cheshire Medical Center.
Saturday, March 22
Unattended fire: At 4:45 p.m., police observed a brush fire on land near Middle Road and Tannery Hill Road with no one around. The Fire Department was notified and the property owner was located and informed that he needed to remain with the fire.
Fire report: At 5:18 p.m., police were notified of a possible tree on wires on Prospect Hill Road near Juniper Circle. Police found smoke in the area from a firepit that was being used, but there was no problem with trees or wires.
Tuesday, March 25
Accident: At 4:11 p.m., police responded to an accident on Route 202 just north of the intersection with Forest Road. A 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by Robert Therrien, 54, of Henniker was in the travel lane and a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Love Kaegi, 32, of Bennington ran into the side of Therrien’s truck, when Kaegi attempted to merge into the travel lane. Both vehicles had minor damage. No one was injured. Kaegi was given a warning for failure to yield the right of way.
Wednesday, March 26
Accident: At 11:23 p.m., police responded to an accident on Route 202 near Forest Road. A 2013 Kia Rio driven by Anna Carter, 59, of Peterborough ran into the back of a 2013 Ford Escape, driven by Robin Quinn, 51, of Peterborough. No one was injured. Both vehicles had moderate damage. Carter’s car was towed and Quinn’s vehicle was driven away. Carter was issued a citation charging her with following too closely.
