Climb for recovery  to be held June 22

Phoenix Houses of New England will present the fourth annual Climb for Recovery on June 22.

The main feature of the day will be a group climb on selected trails to the summit of Mount Monadnock, one of the world’s most frequently climbed mountains, with a raffle and picnic lunch at Monadnock State Park.

All proceeds from Climb for Recovery support Phoenix House’s efforts in New Hampshire to save lives devastated by drug and alcohol addictions, through services, including residential treatment for adults and adolescents, outpatient services, crisis intervention and specialized treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health issues. It is anticipated that numerous members of the New Hampshire recovery community, as well as the community at large, will join in the event.

“This is going to be a great event,” said Melissa Chickering, program director of the Phoenix House Academy in Dublin, “The community has always been incredibly supportive of Climb for Recovery because it’s an opportunity to have fun, challenge yourself physically, and support our important work of helping people overcome substance abuse.”

Participation in the event, which begins with registration at 10 a.m. at the Main Pavilion of Monadnock State Park, 116 Poole Rd., is $20 per person, $10 for additional family members over age 15 and children are free. Online registration is available at www.phdevel.org/netcommunity/2013-climb-for-recovery. Registration forms and further information may also be obtained by calling Phoenix House at 563-8107, ext. 4562.

Phoenix Houses of New England is supported by state contracts and grants from private foundations, corporations and individual donors. See www.phoenixhouse.org to get help, sign-up for our newsletter, or to make a donation.
