Recycling saved $24K

Residents of Peterborough and Sharon helped to recycle 91.35 tons during August.

In tons, recycled materials included newspaper (4.48), cardboard (9), mixed paper (17.16), plastics (2.61), aluminum cans (0.6), steel cans (0.88), food waste (1.33), glass (21), textiles (7.44) and scrap metal (26.95).

By recycling a total of 91.35 tons, residents avoided paying $9,957.15 in disposal fees in August while generating $14,063.62 in revenue for a savings of $24,020.77.

Recycling tip: All aluminum foil and aluminum cat food cans are now being recycled with the steel cans.
