Tuesday, Jan. 7
Arrest on a warrant: At 12:15 p.m., Corey Desmarais, 34, of Rindge came to the police department to turn himself in on a warrant for allowing an improper person to operate a car in a Dec. 30, 2013 incident. Desmarais was released on a hand summons for a Feb. 5 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Negligent driving: At 2:55 p.m., police served a 16-year-old Rindge juvenile a must appear summons for negligent driving following an incident on Rand Road on Dec. 31. The juvenile was given a Feb. 5 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Thursday, Jan. 9
Car accident: At 9 a.m., police responded to a car accident on Route 202 by Fogg’s Mini-Mart. The driver, Marcesel Laloy, 36, of Chester, Vt., was traveling in his 1996 Subaru Legacy when he lost his brakes and crashed into a cement post in the Fogg’s parking lot. No injuries were reported, though the Subaru was towed with significant damage.
Arrest: At 11:10 p.m., police arrested and charged Jonathan Lema Jr., 27, of Winchendon, Mass. with reckless operation. Lema had been traveling on Cathedral Road at 106 mph in a 50 mph zone. Lema was released on $1,500 personal recognizance and was issued a Feb. 5 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Friday, Jan. 10
Car vs. deer: At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a car accident with a deer on Route 202. The driver, Melbourne Leblanc, 69, of Phillipston, Mass. was traveling southbound in a 2000 Chevy Blazer when his car hit a deer. The deer was deceased when police arrived on the scene, but there were no injuries to the driver. The Chevy sustained moderate damage but was driven from the scene. Fish and Game were notified about the deer.
Saturday, Jan. 11
Car accident: At 11:40 a.m. police responded to a two-car accident at the Bean Hill Road and Able Road intersection. Kari Seppanen, 29, of Jaffrey was traveling in her 2012 Ford Fusion northbound on Able Road when her vehicle crashed with a 2001 Ford F150 driven by Austin Ojala, 20, of Jaffrey, who was traveling northbound on Bean Hill. According to police, both cars slid on ice at the intersection, crashing into each other. No injuries were reported, though both cars did sustain moderate damage. Police did not indicate that the vehicles were towed from the scene.
