Propane fire behind market

  • Rindge firefighters advance on a flaming vaporizer attached to an 18,000-gallon propane tank behind Market Basket on Route 202 in Rindge on Friday morning. Using a curtain of water spray, firefighters were able to approach the tank, shut off the tank’s valves and extinguish the fire. Rindge responded to the fire at 4 a.m. and was assisted by mutual aid from Jaffrey, Fitzwilliam, Troy, New Ipswich, Winchendon, Mass., and the Jaffrey-Rindge Ambulance.
