Man allegedly pointed a BB gun at another
Police arrested a New Ipswich man Tuesday after he allegedly threatened a man with a BB gun.
Police arrested both Shane Young, 22, of New Ipswich and his brother, Chevis Young, 24, on June 4 at about 5 p.m., after responding to a report from a Smithville Road resident that Shane had pointed a rifle at him.
According to a press release issued Wednesday, the victim alleged that Shane had approached him while he was working in his yard on Smithville Road, pointed a rifle at him and made threatening remarks, ordering him to go into his house. Shane allegedly further threatened the man when he asked why.
When police arrived at the scene, an officer located Shane near the victim’s residence, and found the reported rifle to be a BB gun. Chevis, who police said was at the scene, was found in possession of a .25 caliber pistol. Shane was arrested and charged with felony-level reckless conduct and criminal threatening. Chevis was arrested and charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another, a class A misdemeanor. Chevis was released on $5,000 personal recognizance, and issued a July 23 court date. Shane was held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections after declining the services of a bail commissioner. Shane was arraigned at the 8th Circuit District Court in Jaffrey on Wednesday ; he was released on $10,000 personal recognizance, with the conditions that he stay at his mother’s home in Dublin under her supervision and that he have no contact with anyone in New Ipswich.
