Burglary suspect sees fugitive charge

RINDGE — A New Ipswich man wanted by Rindge police on a burglary charge was arrested Wednesday in Massachusetts on felony drug charges and is being held in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice.

According to Rindge Police Chief Frank Morrill, Jared Kot, 25, of New Ipswich was charged with burglary in June, following investigation into the theft of several thousand dollars in cash, credit cards and checks and electronic items from a residence on Old New Ipswich Road that occurred on June 20. Kot had been arrested June 20 by New Ipswich police on a charge of receiving stolen property and was released on $5,000 personal recognizance. Rindge police then issued an arrest warrant charging Kot with burglary, which Morrill said resulted in Kot leaving the area.

Morrill said after Kot was arrested in Massachusetts, a records check turned up the outstanding Rindge arrest warrant.

Morrill said Massachusetts police charged Kot with being a fugitive from justice.

No court dates have been set on the Rindge charge. Morrill said Kot will have to deal with the felony drug charge in Massachusetts first and will then be tried on the Rindge and New Ipswich charges.
