Town now recycles cartons, boxes
The Waste Disposal Committee looks for ways to reduce the cost of waste disposal. Francestown now recycles milk and juice cartons and juice boxes. These items will go into the paper container.
These cartons are made of high-quality paper with a thin plastic film on the inside to keep the product sterile. The cartons get sorted, go to a material handler who will process them to extract the plastic off the cartons with both paper and plastic being recycled.
The cartons need to be empty and the cap removed. The cap can go into the co-mingled bin, and the cartons go into the paper container.
This will increase revenues, decrease disposal costs and help the environment because they are not going into the compactor headed for the landfill.
