Residents urged to get flu shot
Peterborough area emergency officials are urging residents to get a flu vaccination during what is proving to be a potent flu season.
Most pharmacies will vaccinate children ages 4 and up. There is no co-pay/deductible for flu shots with most insurance providers. For those without insurance, the average cost for a flu shot is about $25. Most physicians’ offices do not require a full provider visit for a flu shot. A nurse visit or practice wide clinic may be scheduled.
To limit exposure, residents are being asked to take precautions: Wash hands often and avoid touching your face; stay home if you are sick, and avoid public places; try to get adequate rest (about eight hours a night), adequate fluid (60 ounces, noncarbonated/non-alcoholic), and eat fruits and vegetables.
