Suspect in car theft nabbed
Police found two stolen vehicles on Thursday, one from Lempster and one from Antrim, and arrested a suspect at a logging site the same day.
Around 3 p.m. on Thursday police received a call from the Hillsborough dispatch informing them that a resident of Stacy Hill Road in Antrim watched their Red Volvo leave their driveway, driven by an unknown person.
The operator parked a blue Ford pickup truck at the residence, prior to entering the unlocked Volvo and driving away, Det. Jason Lepine said in an interview on Monday.
While driving on Liberty Road in Antrim toward the residence on Stacy Hill Road, Lepine said he observed the stolen Volvo behind a skidder at a logging site. Lepine stopped a woman he observed outside of the Volvo, who was walking behind the skidder. The woman had allegedly stolen a sweatshirt from inside the skidder. Lepine arrested and charged Roxanne Nason, 41, of Brewer, Maine, with two counts of receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle for the sweatshirt.
The blue truck found in Antrim was reported stolen from a Lempster residence earlier that day. Calls to the Lempster Sheriff’s Office seeking further information were not returned by press time.
Police released Nason on $25,000 personal recognizance with a court date of May 8 at the 6th Circuit Court, Hillsborough.
