Motorist calls in fire in unoccupied truck
No injuries resulted from a vehicle fire on Francestown Road on Tuesday evening that was called in by a passing motorist, Police Chief Steve Campbell said in an interview Wednesday.
The fire took place on property owned by Steve Clarke of Bennington and involved an unoccupied GMC pick up truck. Clarke’s home, which was 10 feet away from the fire, was not damaged and no residents were home at the time of the fire, Campbell said. The truck was a total loss.
A passing motorist called police about the fire at 7:45 p.m., Fire Chief Mike Roina said in an interview Wednesday. Roina said the cause of the fire is undetermined, but firefighters do not suspect anything suspicious.
