Free breakfast,  then clean-up

The Bennington Conservation Commission will be sponsoring its 5th Annual Earth Day Clean-up from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The event is held rain or shine each year to commemorate Earth Day.

This year’s event includes a free breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. at the VFW. Pancakes and waffles will be served thanks to a donation by Patrick Greene of “Going Greene” and his wife. There will be fruit, coffee, milk, and juice offered as well thanks to a contribution from the Monadnock Paper Mill.

After breakfast, volunteers will sign up for a route to clean, then collect their bags and head out for road clean up.

The Bennington Selectmen and Conservation Commission are working to enlist the help of the community to fill the void left when the Hillsborough County inmate program that helped maintain roads was cut by the county last year.

For additional information call the Bennington Town Hall at 588-2189.
