Bennington police log: Aug. 22, 2013
Tuesday, Aug. 6
Criminal mischief: At 12:15 p.m., police took a report of criminal mischief involving damage to a park bench on Old Hancock Road, along the railroad tracks near the VFW. Investigation continues.
Animal: At 8:30 p.m., police took a report of barking dogs at a Pine Meadows residence. The owner of the dogs was spoken to. No further action was taken.
Wednesday, Aug. 7
Motor vehicle accident: At 1:15 p.m., police took a report of a motor vehicle accident in the Common Place Eatery parking lot. The vehicle causing the damage did not stop. Investigation continues.
Friday, Aug. 9
Bad check: At 3:30 p.m. after investigating an incident involving a bad check being passed to the Bennington Town Clerk, police arrested Vernon Thornblad, 52, of Bennington, charging him with issuing a bad check. He was released on $500 personal recognizance, pending a Sept. 12 court date at the 6th Circuit Court, Hillsborough.
Criminal mischief: At 7 p.m., after investigating an incident involving damage to a park bench on Old Hancock Road near the VFW, police arrested four juveniles. The case will be heard in juvenile court.
Saturday, Aug. 10
Arrest: At 4:30 a.m., police arrested Billy Bohto, 25, of Milford, charging him with trespassing, illegal possession of a controlled drug, believed to be marijuana, and protective custody for intoxication. The arrest was due to him entering a resident’s house without permission, and falling asleep on the couch. Bohto and the residents did not know each other. He was released on $2,500 personal recognizance, pending a Sept. 12 court date at the 6th Circuit Court, Hillsborough.
Civil case: At 4:30 p.m., police mediated a dispute between a landlord and tenant on Starrett Road. This resulted in the tenant agreeing to leave the residence.
Criminal mischief: At 12:05 p.m., police arrested a juvenile for criminal mischief involving damage to a bench. He was released, pending a juvenile petition being filed with juvenile court.
Sunday, Aug. 11
Mutual aid: Police received three requests for mutual aid assistance. At 5:40 p.m., police assisted the Bennington Fire Department with a call on Main Street. At 8:25 p.m., Bennington assisted Francestown police with a motor vehicle accident on Francestown Road. At 10:40 p.m., Bennington assisted Greenfield police with a medical emergency.
