Helping nonprofits give all year long

For the fourth year in a row, the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript is holding its In the Spirit of Giving campaign to help connect readers with local nonprofits in need.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we’ll highlight the work of select area nonprofits, offering readers the chance to learn more about what these organizations do, as well as some ways to give to them this holiday season.

Nonprofits work tirelessly on behalf of the people they serve, filling the gaps between the community’s needs and government services, all year long. And if giving at the holidays is one of your traditions or one you’re thinking of establishing, your gift could make a difference all year long in the hands of an area nonprofit.

There are a couple of payment features we’re setting up to make donations more attractive. If you are looking for a gift for a loved one, consider making a donation in his or her name to one of the organizations we have selected. We will send you a certificate for you to place “under the tree.”

Also, for all one-year subscriptions, renewals and gifts of the Ledger-Transcript purchased during December, the newspaper will donate 15 percent of that value to one of the organizations we intend to profile. The choice of which organization receives the donation will be yours.

We want to tell your story. If you would like to be featured during our giving series, you must meet certain criteria. You must be registered as a 501c3 nonprofit. You must also be located in one of the 16 communities we cover and provide services for residents in these communities.

Our coverage area includes Antrim, Bennington, Dublin, Francestown, Greenfield, Greenville, Hancock, Jaffrey, Lyndeborough, Mason, New Ipswich, Peterborough, Rindge, Sharon, Temple and Wilton.

Please send an email or letter telling us a bit about your organization, who you are, who benefits from your work and why you do what you do. And please include your 501c3 identification number for verification. The deadline to receive submissions is Dec. 1. Send submissions to news@ledgertranscript.com, with “In the Spirit of Giving” in the subject line, or In the Spirit of Giving, Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, P.O. Box 36, Peterborough, NH 03458.

We look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully making 2014 a year of greater rewards for all.
