Small-town love really showed
To the editor:
I wanted to thank everyone in Bennington who helped me Saturday morning when I went off the road.
A woman named Carla stayed with me for a long time, helping me focus and calming me down. That meant a lot. Another man, brother of Mike of Mike’s Towing in Bennington, helped me get out of my car and helped with traffic. He stood by the corner of the road that had ice and advised passers-by to slow down until the fire department was able to take control of the traffic.
While some drivers continued to drive down Francestown Road, several people stopped to ask if I was OK, or to let me know that the fire department was on their way.
Thank you also to Officer Brett Sullivan, Fire Chief Mike Roina and everyone from the Bennington Fire Department, the responding ambulance and Mike’s Towing. I definitely felt the small-town love that morning.
