Protect Dublin’s Master Plan
To the editor:
The selectmen, Planning and Zoning Board members are entrusted with the responsibility to protect and implement the spirit and intent of the Master Plan. Our Master Plan describes where, how and at what pace the community desires to develop. While most of us think that Dublin will never change, in truth the results of the vote on Article 6 on March 11 could change everything.
I would hope that we as residents of Dublin, would be given more of an opportunity to discuss a major zoning change rather than having it put up for a vote because our Planning Board members did not know how to manage a difficult issue. We should have been given the platform to discuss this issue with our neighbors in a process that was fair and not rushed.
You may think that this is just about the controversy in town about the redesign of T-Bird Mini Mart and their need to have a drive-through in order to make their investment viable. If so you are wrong. It is now about the future landscape of Dublin. Not this year or next but 10 or more years from now. If the Master Plan needs to be revised then that should be considered.
Please consider your vote carefully because it could change our town forever.
