Curran takes New England championship

In a field of 19 wrestlers from the 6 New England States, Daniel opened with 1st period pins of the Connecticut #2 and the Vermont #1; reaching the Final 4. The Massachusetts #1 was tougher at this stage, Daniel was up 4-2 when he earned the pin in the 2nd period. Daniel then won the championship 6-3 over the Rhode Island #1 seed in the finals. Awesome, tough match, both finished the match bloody and Daniel was put into significant pain during it. Rhode Island was very tough and Daniel fought from the bottom for the entire last two periods. But our boy held on and took home the title. Some things are keepers for life, this is one. Proud.

Special was this is Daniel’s last match with his middle school coach/ friend/ mentor, Mike Colby. Also special that his other coaches, Mike Marshall (Doughboy Wrestling Club) and Coach Joe Faucher, were matside as well. All three great men to mentor and teach our son.
