Group exploring Thoreau, Emerson at Dublin library
The “Recasting Monadnock Classics” reading group will be held at the Dublin Public Library on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The series has been exploring the threads that connect the writings of such people as Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson to writers of the present day on the subject of man’s relationship to nature.
Using Thoreau as a jumping-off place, the poems of Wendell Berry, Mary Oliver, Denise Levertov, Galway Kinnell, Pat Fargnoli, John Gould Fletcher and Emily Dickinson will be explored with Emily Archer, N.H. Humanities Council scholar.
Copies of the readings may be picked up at the library’s front desk.
The group is free and open to the public. This series has been sponsored by the N.H. Humanities Council and the Friends of the Dublin Public Library.
