Edible book contest set for July 27

The Stephenson Memorial Library will hold its inaugural Edible Books Contest on July 27.

Drop off is at 10 a.m. and judging is at 11. A summer reading picnic will immediately follow.

The library is defining the contest rather broadly, so food/art creators have options on what they’d like to create with edible ingredients. For instance, an edible book may refer to a book’s title, characters or illustrations (a real book may be included in the display), it may be inspired by a book’s plot or quote from the story, it may be in the shape of an actual book (or eBook, or scroll, etc.) or it could even be inspired by the library itself.

Registration will be held at the drop off that Saturday in the Wensberg Room. Sign in with your name, contact, book title and a brief description. The space is not refrigerated and presentations should be presented on a sturdy platform.

Contestants can enter as many times as they’d like, but each person can only win one prize. The grand prize is a Cooks Prize Basket.
