A beautiful thing to witness
To the editor:
If there is a thing we call, dedication and love...then I have been blessed to witness such a thing.
Recently I had met two lovely elderly women whose fondness and dedication to their church brought both back to visit the vacant building that has been on the market to sell for sometime now.
Each woman, one local and the other now living in Kentucky, spoke of their memories and of days long since past. Baptisms, marriages, friendships, holy times spent sharing within this beautiful old building. Both saddened by its closing, but both dedicated to its memory and grateful to have shared blessings with so many.
I enjoyed listening to their stories and soaked up the love of church and people. It is an amazing gift when you meet two strangers who offer so much joy to another, even for a brief moment of time. In my heart, I shared in their loss and in their memories, as well. How lucky am I? I wish I could change the future for the Catholic Church in Bennington.
My hope, is that it will serve in some wonderful way for the people in this area, as it did in the past and bring the same sort of joy it brought these two kind ladies. One can only hope.
