Photographs of region, prints to be exhibited
Two art exhibits will be featured for February in the Daniels Room at the Hancock Town Library.
Photographs by Michael Moore will continue to be on display through Feb. 13. Moore’s exhibit includes black-and-white images of performers from the 1970s as well as his color photographs depicting life in the Monadnock region, ranging from humorous to heartbreaking to heroic.
Beginning Feb. 15 an exhibit of hand-pulled prints by Aaron T. Brown will be on display. At a very early age, Brown was introduced to and influenced by the work of the German-born artist Jean Arp. His work today shares the buoyancy and an element of surprise and chance that one sees in Arp’s work.
“My shape making is dynamic, and the resulting work is imbued with a palpable life, an aliveness that viewers sense when beholding the work,” said Brown. “At the same time, it is restful, as the harmonies and balance of the forms imbue a sense of equanimity and peace, having a magic of their own, resonating within.”
All are welcome to attend an artist’s reception on Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through March 27.
Exhibits in the Daniels Room can be viewed during regular library hours, Monday and Wednesday, 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors are advised to check with the library beforehand since the room is sometimes reserved for community events.
