Piano concert in Hancock on April 21
Pianist Matthew Odell will be in concert at the Hancock Meeting House Sunday
Pianist Matthew Odell will be in concert at the Hancock Meeting House on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Odell will perform the works of Haydn, Debussy and Barber.
Odell began his studies at the age of 10 and has since won acclaim for performances of a wide range of repertoire as a solo recitalist, soloist with orchestra and chamber musician.
He has given concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado.
Internationally, he has performed in Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Paris, Taipei, Taiwan and Kyoto. Recent concerts have included such diverse projects as Messiaen’s “Des canyons aux é toiles” with Maestro David Robertson and the Juilliard Orchestra for the reopening of Alice Tully Hall, a performance in the New York Philharmonic’s Stravinsky Festival, and solo recitals of Messiaen’s “Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus.”
A New Hampshire native, he lives Manhattan and is on the faculty of the Julliard School and Bard College.
The concert will be about 60 minutes long with no intermission and is part of the Music on Norway Pond concert series.
