ConVal High School’s Spanish Club took home the trophy in the 2nd Annual World Language Iron Chef competition at South Meadow School last week.
Modeled after the popular Food Network program, teams compete to make the tastiest, best presented, most culturally authentic dish, using a secret ingredient given a week beforehand. This year’s ingredient was eggs, and the Spanish club wowed the judges with Mexican huevos rancheros, along with churros and chocolate and virgin margaritas. Judges included teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, food service worker and one ConVal student.
The winning team, from left includes teacher Jenn Trubiano, students Lauren Morrocco, Mykala Grabrandt and Mandy Anderson, and teacher Robin Kennedy.
