Jaffrey: Man injured in crash had to be extricated from vehicle

A young Jaffrey man suffered serious injuries and was taken the hospital Thursday night after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree on Howard Hill Road in Jaffrey, police said.

Peter F. Deiana, 23, of Jaffrey was traveling east on Howard Hill Road around 9:30 p.m., when he drove off the road and hit a tree adjacent to a driveway at 33 Howard Hill, police said Friday.

According to police reports, Deiana was the only occupant of a 1994 Ford Explorer, registered in his father Peter J. Deiana’s name, at the time of the crash.

Police said Peterborough and Jaffrey police spend a significant amount of time trying to extricate Deiana from the vehicle. He was then transported to the Monadnock Community Hospital by ambulance.

Monadnock Community Hospital spokesperson Phil McFarland said in an interview Monday that Deiana was treated and transferred to different facility on Thursday night. Information about Deaina’s condition is unavailable.

The vehicle was towed to an impound lot in Peterborough Thursday night.

According to his Facebook profile page, Deiana is a Conant High School graduate.
