9th annual Night of 1,000 Cupcakes, Thursday

To commemorate William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday, the Jaffrey Civic Center’s ninth annual “Night of a 1,000 Cupcakes” will carry the theme “Get Thee to a Cupcake!” on the evening of Thursday, July 17, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

To follow the theme, the categories for judging are: Most Romeo and Juliet, Best Hamlet, Sweetest Puck, Most Colorful Court Jester, Most Romantic, Most Queen Elizabeth, Best As You Like It, Best Comedy of Errors, Most Elegant, and Most ‘Tempest’uous.

Drop-off hours for baked goods will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the first floor Auditorium Gallery.

Anyone who would like to bake cupcakes just for eating or being judged needs to contact Dion Owens in advance.

There will be dancing to live music by Hot Mustard, eating donated cupcakes and refreshments, watching short acting performances by the Project Shakespeare players, selling of raffle tickets for a 52” x 52” cupcake quilt by members of the Monadnock Quilters’ Guild and a beautiful cupcake-themed painting by Deb Pero.

There will be face painting, cupcake t-shirts for sale, and bidding on professionally baked cupcakes.

The exhibits inside will be open for viewing during the evening.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 532-6527.
