Concert, auction to benefit CVTC

Contoocook Valley Transportation Company and the Grand View Estate will be hosting an evening of music on July 31 in the Grand View Barn.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Andy Avery and Fred Lantz, well-known musicians all across New England, will perform a mix of folk, pop, country, standards, and originals. Avery has been the house performer in the Marsh Tavern at the Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vt., for close to 30 years. He plays acoustic guitar and sings while Lantz, known as ‘Vermont’s own Johnny Cash,’ backs him up on stand-up bass and vocals.

Concert attendees may bring picnic suppers at 6 p.m. and dine on the grounds surrounding the main house. Sunflowers Restaurant will prepare and deliver individual picnics in a returnable basket for $19.50 plus 9-percent tax, pre-paid. For menu options and to place an order, call 593-3303.

If the weather is rainy, diners may picnic in the barn. An after-concert gathering will be held at Parson’s Pub at the Monadnock Inn.

The concert is BYOB, with basic mixers, soda and ice provided. A bite-sized selection of desserts will be provided, donated by local establishments.

A silent auction of a few select items and a 50/50 raffle will also take place with all proceeds supporting CVTC’s efforts.

Tickets are $25 per person. Tables of 8 may be reserved. Tickets can be purchased (checks or cash) by coming to the CVTC office at the Monadnock Business Center in Peterborough, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by contacting CVTC at 821-4081 or ellen@cvtc-nh.org.
