Jaffrey Police Log: April 2, 2013


Friday, March 22

Arrest: At 8:02 a.m., police made a motor vehicle stop on First Tavern Road. The driver, Albert Magnifico, 42, of Jaffrey, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while being deemed a habitual offender. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a May 2 arraignment at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey.

Accident: At 12:18 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash on Peterborough Street. Jean Gauthier, 37, of Gardner, Mass., was turning his 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee left on Webster Street from Peterborough Street when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by Trisha Traffie, 29, of New Ipswich, according to police. Traffie was traveling north on Peterborough Street. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Saturday, March 23

Accident: At 12:15 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash on Stratton Road. Maribeth Irish, 41, of Gray, Maine, was driving her 2007 Nissan Altima east on Stratton Road when she attempted to turn into 18 Stratton Rd. and was rear-ended by a 2006 Jeep Liberty, driven by Dawna Cardenas, 38, of Rochester. Irish’s vehicle sustained minor to moderate damage, while police said Cardenas’s vehicle did not sustain any damage. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Sunday, March 24

Must appear: At 12:04 a.m., police made a motor vehicle stop on River Street for defective equipment. The driver, Jeffrey Young, 18, of Gardner, Mass., was issued a must appear summons for operating without a valid license. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.

Accident: At 3:50 p.m., police observed a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jessica Bullard, 30, of Milford, turn right onto Main Street from River Street without stopping at a red light. Bullard struck the passenger’s side of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Eric Chalke, 33, of Jaffrey, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Bullard and Chalke pulled over into the parking lot across from Rite Aid pharmacy after the crash, according to police. Bullard was issued a summons for failure to stop at a red light. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
