Legion’s backyard fulfills a vision
To the editor:
On May 18, 2013, the backyard of the John Humiston American Legion Post Home was formally dedicated by the Sons of the American Squadron No. 11, to Richard “Dick” Davis Jr.
He had a vision of what the empty backyard should look like. So with the help of others, his dream of a functioning, fun place was built.
There is a gazebo, a huge cooking and serving area, as well as an outdoor bar, picnic tables, horseshoes and a place to play Bocci.
I would like to thank the Sons for working so diligently to getting this dedication accomplished.
To all the Post 11, Auxiliary unit No. 11 and the Sons, thank you for remembering Dick in this way.
Also to everyone involved in cooking and serving the lunch after, a huge thank you.
