Medicaid expansion is help for those in need
Medicaid expansion is a win-win situation for our state. The federal government will pay 100 percent of the cost for the first three years and then 95 ercent for the next three years. The state can leave the program anytime it feels it does not benefit us.
Medicaid benefits our most needy citizens — the poor and low-income elderly. A kind and just society takes care of its own.
My constituents support Medicaid expansion, and state programs — like Chins (Children in Need of Services) and TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) — will benefit. CEOs of hospitals around the state support Medicaid expansion to aid hospitals when people receive uncompensated care.
New Hampshire needs federal dollars because at present we pay more in federal taxes than we get back from the federal government.
My constituents in Rindge and Fitzwilliam and the people of New Hampshire will benefit significantly from Medicaid expansion. Saving money and taking care of people are in keeping with New Hampshire values.
Rep. Susan Emerson (R-Rindge) represents Cheshire County District #11.
