Letter: Chief Leel a dedicated leader

To the editor:

Before moving out of town, I was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of New Ipswich and worked under the leadership of Chief David Leel. Chief Leel takes pride in his department. He works hard to make sure all firefighters have the training and equipment they need to keep themselves, and the community, safe with little to no increase in the department’s budget. He was involved in getting a dive team set up in the department, as well as being on the board that oversees the new Firefighter I program at Mascenic Regional High School. He is also a board member of his church, as well as a member of several Fire Chief Associations. This shows his commitment to both his department and the community.

I have known Chief Leel personally for approximately five years. In that time I have known him to be an upstanding citizen and leader who wants the best for the citizens of the Town of New Ipswich. I urge you to re-elect David Leel as Chief of the New Ipswich Fire Department.
