Letter: Lund was terrific public servant
To the editor:
This letter is to express my congratulations and condolences. Congratulations to Mr. Chris Lund, who after 15 years on the Mascenic School Board, will finally get some well-deserved time off. My condolences to New Ipswich and Greenville who are losing a terrific public servant.
During my time in Mason, Mr. Lund was a terrific role model to me while I was the student member of the school board, though being a goofy high-schooler I didn’t realize it at the time. I saw Mr. Lund steer our district through a number of thorny issues, including the withdrawal of my hometown, Mason, from the district. Tensions ran high and tempers flared (including my own), but Mr. Lund was always the consummate professional: Calm, compassionate, reasonable, and focused on long-term success.
Now, as I enter professional life, I hope that some of Mr. Lund’s better qualities rubbed off on me. Enjoy your retirement, Mr. Lund. I hope you can appreciate the positive impact you had on the students in the district because we certainly appreciate you.
