Man charged with DWI after crash on Route 124
NEW IPSWICH — John Hayes, 48, of New Ipswich has been charged with DWI after a single-car crash on Route 124 on Monday night.
At approximately 6:48 p.m., Hayes lost control of the vehicle, sending it off the road, according to New Ipswich Police Lt. Sean Cavanaugh. Hayes was the only occupant in the vehicle, and he walked away from the incident with only minor injuries, according to Cavanaugh. The car he was driving, a green 1995 Volvo 850, was totaled in the accident. No other cars were involved in the accident.
Hayes was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital by Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service, where he was arrested and charged with DWI, according to Cavanaugh.
Cavanaugh did not know on Wednesday what Hayes blood-alcohol level was at the time of the accident. Intoxication was likely determined by a blood draw done at the hospital, and it will be several days before police receive the results from testing at the state police lab, Cavanaugh said.
Hayes was released on $1,500 personal recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey, on May 7.
