Mother, son face burglary charges

Another indicted in silverware nabbing

A Cheshire County Grand Jury indicted a Jaffrey man last week on burglary charges in connection with three separate break-ins of seasonal cottages on Gilmore Pond Road in the summer of 2012.

Mario J. Dumas, 21, of Jaffrey was charged with three counts of accomplice or principal to burglary for allegedly entering two privately owned cottages and a trailer owned by the town of Jaffrey, all on Gilmore Pond Road, between June 1, 2012, and July 13, 2012, according to Superior Court documents.

Items reported missing on June 1 from the trailer include a cast iron wood stove and a small quantity of copper tubing, Jaffrey Police Chief Bill Oswalt said by phone Wednesday. Around the same time, Oswalt said a variety of tools, ladders, furniture and some electronics were reported stolen from one privately owned camp in that neighborhood, and metal, ammunition and a game camera stolen from a second camp. In one case, there was sign of forced entry, he noted.

Dumas’ mother, Lynn Dumas, 46, of Jaffrey, was also indicted last week on one count of accomplice or principal to burglary in connection with the alleged break-in and thefts at the town-owed trailer, which Oswalt said was unoccupied at the time. The town had taken the trailer after back taxes were not paid.

In an unrelated case, Robert A. Harris, 51, of New Ipswich was indicted on one count of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer for allegedly entering a home on East Lake Road in Fitzwilliam in January and stealing more than $1,500 worth of silverware.

In another Jaffrey case, Steven Paradis, 27, of Rindge, was indicted with driving on Main Street in Jaffrey on Feb. 19 after being declared a habitual offender of motor vehicle laws. He was convicted of driving crimes in 2010 and 2011, according to court records.
