Car hits downtown pedestrian, ice blamed
PETERBOROUGH — A Peterborough woman was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital on Saturday after being hit by a car while crossing a downtown intersection.
Marsha Cormier, 64, of Peterborough was hit at about 11 a.m. by a car driven by Louis Waryncia, 54, of Claremont, according to Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard,.
Guinard said Waryncia was driving a 2012 Honda west on Main Street when he started to turn onto Depot Street.
“Due to the icy roadway, the car slid into the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk,” Guinard said.
Cormier was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital official.
Waryncia was issued a citation charging him with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
