Peterborough Police Log: April 15, 2014
Monday, March 31
Accident: At 5:05 a.m., John Sheridan, 47, of Temple was eastbound on Route 101 near Old Mountain Road when he reportedly lost control of his 2008 Ford Econoline, which crossed the road and became stuck in a snowbank. The vehicle was pulled out by a passerby and was undamaged.
Accident: At 6 a.m., Joseph Haynes, 54, of Richmond was eastbound on Route 101 near Route 123 when he lost control of his 2008 Ford F-350 pickup, which collided with a snowbank and rolled over. The truck had heavy damage to the roof and driver’s side and was towed. No one was injured.
Accident: At 6:50 a.m., Balraj Kumar, 70, of Dracut, Mass., was westbound on Route 124 in Sharon when he lost control of his 2007 Honda Accord, hitting some rocks and bushes and going into a swamp. The car had moderate front bumper and passenger side damage and was towed. Kumar was not injured.
Tuesday, April 1
Dog complaint: At 2:45 a.m., after hearing a dog barking when they responded to a complaint, police issued a warning to a dog owner on Jarmany Hill Road in Sharon.
Theft investigation: At 9:53 a.m., police opened an investigation after getting a report that cash had been taken from a Dublin Road business over the past few weeks.
Accident: At 10:48 p.m., a 1996 Mercury Marquis driven by Shelby Emerson, 59, of Peterborough hit a deer on Route 136 near Gulf Road. The car had minor damage; the deer ran off.
Arrest: At 8:33 p.m., police arrested Kurt Langley, 30, of Peterborough on two warrants from the Bennington Police Department charging him with theft and unauthorized use of a credit card. Langley was released to Bennington police for processing.
Arrest: At 11:08 p.m., after a traffic stop on Route 202 for alleged defective equipment, police arrested Charles Koester, 25, of Peterborough and charged him with possession of a controlled drug believed to be marijuana. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a court date of May 5 in 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey.
Wednesday, April 2
Accident: At 6:20 a.m., Robert Hicks, 22, of Peterborough was eastbound on Route 101 near Elm Street when he hit a deer. His 1995 Dodge pickup had a brush guard on the bumper and sustained no damage. The deer was killed and was removed from the roadway.
Theft report: At 2:17 p.m., an Antrim resident reported a theft of cash from her pocketbook, which was in a car parked in the Peterborough Plaza lot.
Thursday, April 3
Juvenile complaint: At 12:01 p.m., ConVal High School staff reported that a student was out of control and needed to be removed from the property. Two students were picked up by their parents and one was taken home by an officer with parents’ permission. The school will handle the disciplinary action.
Arrest: At 8:33 p.m., D. Jacob Faneuf, 31, of Temple turned himself in on a warrant charging him with conduct after an accident. He was released on $1,500 personal recognizance with a June 5 court date.
Arrests: At 11:34 p.m., police located a vehicle parked behind Noone Falls on Route 202 after all of the business were closed. The vehicle was occupied by five males. After investigation, police arrested Seth Amrich, 20, of Peterborough and charged him with possession of controlled/narcotic drugs and transportation of alcohol. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a May 5 court date. Police also arrested Gary Benintendi, 19, of Keene and charged him with possession of alcohol. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a May 5 court date. Evin Tracy, 19, of Hancock and Alexander Carpenter, 18, of Peterborough were each taken into protective custody for alleged intoxication and later released to a parent.
Saturday, April 5
Tire fire: At 11 p.m., police went to the intersection of Route 123 and Nashua Road in Sharon, where a tire had been set on fire. Police used a fire extinguisher on the tire to put it out, but it relit shortly after. New Ipswich and Peterborough firefighters responded and extinguished the fire.
Sunday, April 6
Arrest: At 9:10 p.m., after responding to a domestic disturbance on Greenfield Road, police arrested Robert Kiehn, 48, of Peterborough. He was charged with two counts of criminal threatening, false imprisonment, obstructing report of a crime or injury and simple assault. Kiehn was released on $10,000 personal recognizance with a May 5 court date.
Monday, April 7
Animal complaint: At 3:30 a.m., police went to a Taggart Lane residence after a caller reported smelling a skunk and hearing an animal in the house. There was a strong skunk odor but no signs of an animal in the house.
Another animal complaint: At 9:33 a.m., a Windy Row resident reported a raccoon in his yard. Police located the animal and moved it along.
Arrest: At 12:50 p.m., Amanda Curry, 32, of Peterborough was arrested on a warrant charging her with issuing a bad check. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a June 9 court date.
Third animal complaint: At 6:55 p.m., a Windy Row resident reported a rabid raccoon in his backyard. An officer put the animal down.
