Students staging the ‘Little Mermaid, Jr.’

ConVal Drama will present a production of “The Little Mermaid, Jr. ” in the Lucy Hurlin Theatre at ConVal High School for three performances beginning Thursday, July 31.

This 90-minute version of the 1989 Disney film “The Little Mermaid” with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and book by Doug Wright, is based on the story originally published by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837.

The show is being presented in association with ConVal Summer Academy and features the first collaboration between ConVal High School, Great Brook Middle School and South Meadow Middle School. Students coming into 5th-12th grades participated in a four-week course to put together this shortened version of the Broadway production.

ConVal district students performing are Emily Aucella of Bennington, Kyra Lloyd of Antrim, Jill Pierson and Dillon Sullivan of Francestown, Alanna Batty, Nick Batty, Alex Bell, Cassandra Ellis and Ruthana Ellis, all of Greenfield, Anna McGuiness, James McGuiness and Somerset Young, all of Hancock, Devin Batcheller, Kylie Boyle, Grace Christensen, Miranda Craig, Daniel Curran, Joshua Curran, Cassie Cutting, Isabel Dreher, Kaylin Krslovic, Rebekah Loll, Liam McCall, Kaitlyn Roberts, Montana Schultz, Emma Simila, Cassandra Wilkinson and Michael Zrzavy, all of Peterborough, and Anna Chisholm and Kylie Johnson, both of Temple.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1.

Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
