The Monadnock Chorus will present a concert at the Peterborough Town House on April 27 at 7:30 p.m., and April 28 at 3 p.m.
The chorus, under the direction of Jim Sharrock, will perform works by Puccini and other opera composers such as Leoncavallo, Donizetti and Bizet.
Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria,” written early in his career, will be a featured part of the program.
The chorus also will perform a new piece, “Monadnock in October,” by Boston-area composer Peter Vantine. Based on a poem
of the same title by Edna Dean Proctor of
New Hampshire, it is one of the most famous pieces written about Mount Monadnock.
Vantine’s piece was commissioned by the chorus.
The presenters include chorus, chamber orchestra and two soloists, Ben Robinson, tenor, and Tom Jones, bass.
Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door for adults, and $10 for students and children.
Tickets are available online at www.monadnock-chorus.org, or at Steele’s and the Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough.
