‘The Way’ screening First Friday

The Mariposa Museum will screen “The Way,” starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez, on Friday at 7 p.m.

This film tells the story of a grieving father who flies to France to claim the remains of his son, who died while hiking the Camino de Santiago, a 1,000-year old pilgrimage route in the Pyrenees. Looking for insights into his estranged child’s life, he decides to complete the 500-mile trek to Spain.

The film precedes the Mariposa Museum’s July 24 fundraising event, “Sacred Geography: Camino de Santiago,” a power-point presentation by Don and Lee Englund which re-tells their pilgrimage last year on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. The presentation will be held at the historic Lake Falls Lodge in Stoddard. For more information about the entire event, visit or call the Mariposa at 924-4555.

First Friday begins at 5 p.m. with KidCraft. The theme will be summer craft.

From 6 to 7 p.m. a reception will be held for the ongoing exhibit “Kopanang Creation Canticle.”

All events for First Friday are free and open to the public.
