Doing nothing will ensure crisis

To the editor:

The news tonight that I am watching is conclusive — 100 percent proof that human activity is causing climate change.

The ice is melting in the Artic at a faster rate than ever. All you have to do is look at almost any study now to see what is happening. The evening news had a incredible set of pictures of the ice melting up north and the scientists up there believe we can expect at least three feet rise in the water level within 100 years.

New York City is planning on spending upwards of a billion dollars to bolster defenses against rising water levels. The flooding of subways and tunnels last year was a giant wakeup call. As I have said before, the rising population of the world will eventually change the climate irreversibly unless we do something soon. What to do though, is for all of us to ponder and not put our head in the sand and do nothing
