PETERBOROUGH — A Jaffrey man died Wednesday after his car collided with a PSNH/Northeast Utilities truck on Route 202 near the Agway store.

According to Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard, Jeffrey Sawin, 57, of Jaffrey was driving a 2010 Subaru northbound at about 9:50 a.m. when his car crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Northeast Utilities service vehicle operated by Robert Edick, 56, of Dublin.

Sawin was taken by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered during the collision.

Edick was not injured.

According to a statement issued Wednesday afternoon by PSNH, there were two PSNH employees in the company’s truck, who were both taken to the hospital and then released.

“PSNH expresses its condolences to family and friends of the accident victim,” the statement reads. “The company will cooperate fully with the investigation into the accident.”

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, according to Guinard.

Route 202 was closed for approximately two hours.

The accident is under investigation by the Peterborough Police Department and N.H. State Police.
