Three events set for Toadstool on Saturday
Three authors will be discussing and signing their books at the Toadstool Bookshop on Saturday.
At 11 a.m. Kim Makris and Laura Piazza return for a discussion about Lyme Disease and their books. Piazza is author of “Recipes For Repair: A Lyme Disease Cookbook” and Makris is author of “Out Of The Woods: Healing Lyme Disease – Body Mind & Spirit.”
New Hampshire has the second highest incidence of Lyme disease per capita. Both authors will share their personal experiences with the disease and describe prevention strategies and lifestyle changes helpful in finding a cure. This event will be held upstairs.
Also at 11 a.m., Marie Harris and Mary Lyn Ray each will be reading and signing their recent picture books for children. Marie’s latest is “The Girl Who Heard Colors.” Introducing young children to the idea of synesthesia and fully illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, this is the story of a little girl who sees colors when she hears sounds. Harris is also a poet and former N.H. poet laureate.
Ray will read from “Boom! Big, Big Thunder & One Small Dog,” illustrated by Steven Salerno. Ray has written many books for children.
At 2 p.m., editors of and contributors to “Impossible Futures: Return to the Future That Never Was” will be present, including Judith K. Dial, Thomas Easton, Debra Doyle, James Macdonald, and Allen M. Steele. The book is a collection of science fiction short stories.
