Marrow donors may be life-savers

To the editor:

I would like to extend our heart felt appreciation to everyone that participated in last Friday’s bone marrow donor registry drive. We were able to add 14 new people to the registry and many people stopped by to let us know they were already registered and give us their best wishes. The support was overwhelming.

Special thanks to the Rhode Island Blood Center for coordinating the drive, to The Bowling Acres Grill for donating the space for the drive, to Savron Graphics for donating all of the poster printing and finally, but certainly not least, thanks to the volunteers that helped staff the event and make it a success. If you are between the ages of 18-44 and would like to be on the registry, you can go to www.BeTheMatch.org and have a kit sent to you. A simple cheek swab could lead to saving a life.

Donations to help with Steven’s medical bills can be dropped of at The Need For Speed Garage or online by visiting www.giveforward.com and searching for “Steve Mahoney.”
