Conant alum Bennett shines on the court
Conant High School alum Drew Bennett, now at Franklin Pierce University, played some terrific tennis last week, winning big matches against both Saint Anselm’s and Assumption College. Againt St. Anselm’s, Bennett paired with fellow sophomore Jared Taylor to shut out Christopher Parent and Peter O’Connell at second doubles; Bennett then went on to blank Joe Cahill 8-0 in singles and FPU won the day.
On Sunday afternoon, Bennett was back in action against Assumption, playing an entertaining match against grad student Michael Breen. Both of the first two sets required tiebreaks, with Bennett taking a 7-6 win in the first set and Breen answering with a 7-6 win in the second set. The team match was decided by the time the two finished the second set, which meant they played a third-set tiebreak instead of a full third set. Bennett prevailed for the 7-6 (3), 6-7 (8), 10-7 victory.
The Ravens are scheduled to return to the court on Friday when they host Adelphia at 10 a.m.
