Police seek driver of crashed car
RINDGE — Police are investigating a single car crash that caused damage to traffic signs on Payson Hill Road after finding an abandoned vehicle a mile from the scene.
Police said they are looking for the driver of a 2003 Dodge pickup truck who allegedly drove off the road early on June 21.
Officer David Blake said Monday that after investigating, police believe the driver hit a sign in front of the Rindge Town House on Payson Hill Road, then hit a nearby tree and drove away on a flat tire through Main Street to Lord Brook Road.
Police received a call at 4:20 a.m. on June 21 from a resident reporting a vehicle had been abandoned on Lord Brook Road. Blake said they believe the crash occurred around midnight.
Blake said police located the owner of the truck, Donald O’Malley, but are still investigating the incident.
“We are trying find out if there was a relative of the owner who was driving the vehicle when it crashed,” Blake said.
According Blake, police expect to press charges.
By press time on Wednesday, no arrest had been made.
“We believe an arrest will be made soon. The charge will be a misdemeanor, conduct after an accident,” Blake said.
