Islamic literature to be discussed
“Islamic Literature: Bridging the Cultural Gulf Between East and West” will be presented June 13, as part of the Sunset Series at the Cathedral of the Pines.
Dr. Olga Davidson will lead a public discussion on the literature of the Islamic cultures.
Davidson will explore the unifying topic of the expression of sorrow in different, even clashing, cultures. The singing of laments by women confronted with the losses caused by war is a poignant example.
Davidson is on the faculty of the Institute for the study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations at Boston University.
The program is offered through a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
