RINDGE — A former Rindge man has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor under the age of 13 between 2008 and 2010, according to Rindge police.
Scott Andrew Hill, 47, of Swanzey was arrested Wednesday by Rindge Det. Jeff Seppala, with assistance from Swanzey police and State Police, on a warrant issued by the Rindge Police Department, charging him with four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and one count of felonious sexual assault, according to a press release issued by Rindge Police Chief Frank Morrill on Thursday.
Hill is charged with an alleged pattern of sexual assault and forcible fondling, according to a warrant for his arrest, available at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey on Friday.
The alleged sexual assaults reportedly took place in Rindge when both Hill and the victim were residents of the town, according to Morrill.
Police said they arrested Hill, a longtime area resident, at his home in Swanzey on Wednesday at approximately 1:10 p.m. after a month-long investigation.
Hill was held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail following his arrest and transported to the Cheshire County House of Corrections.
During a video arraignment at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey on Thursday morning, Justice L. Phillips Runyon III upheld the $50,000 cash bail required for Hill’s release. Runyon also ordered that Hill have no contact with the alleged victim.
The circumstances leading to Hill’s arrest Wednesday are unclear at this time. At the request of Rindge Police, Runyon ordered the affidavit in support of an arrest warrant to be sealed.
Hill is scheduled to appear at the 8th Circuit Court for a probable cause hearing on Tuesday morning.
