Students participate at FPU’s ‘Presidency and the Press’
Fifteen high school and college students from the New England region met on Franklin Pierce University’s Rindge campus for The Presidency and the Press Conference July 13-17. Hosted by Franklin Pierce’s Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication, the Conference introduced high-achieving students to the dynamics of presidential election politics, ensuring the students acquire the skills and information they need for full participation in the presidential election.
This year’s conference welcomed three students from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, who were recruited through Fitzwater Center Director Dr. Kristen Nevious, and Doug Cullen from The Center for Career & Technical Education at Pinkerston.
“We were thrilled that Marlin Fitzwater was able to meet with the students again this year. His perspective on the Presidency, framed by his experience as Press Secretary for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, is extraordinarily inspiring,” said Nevious, who has hosted The Presidency and the Press Conferences for the past nine years at Franklin Pierce.
