United Way’s Day of Caring set for Sept. 11
The Monadnock United Way will hold its annual Day of Caring to align with the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Sept. 11.
The United Way Day of Caring was established to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies and demonstrate what people working together for the community’s good can accomplish. Day of Caring matches local businesses, groups, organizations or individuals with nonprofit agencies for a day of community service. This special day provides an opportunity for nonprofits to select a project that needs helping hands; then businesses, organizations, and civic groups in the community organize volunteers to help. Volunteers from across the Monadnock region can clean up, perform general repairs, paint, landscaping, or even helping with home projects for the elderly or disabled. United Way tailors volunteer opportunities to meet differing commitment levels and interests.
