On the new CEO at the hospital

To the editor:

Dealing effectively with change is a necessary and essential component of managing a hospital in the U.S. today. Actually, creating opportunities has been a consistent part of our history here at Monadnock Community Hospital since 1919, when a group of active citizens convinced New York attorney Robert Parmelee to donate his summer estate to the residents of the Monadnock region for use as a hospital.

From those humble beginnings, MCH has evolved to be one of the finest examples of a rural health-care organization in the Northeast. Throughout our rich history, we have delivered a widely recognized level of compassionate care, which has improved the quality of life for residents throughout the region. Today, while the national landscape of health care is more volatile than ever, MCH remains committed to its core mission to: “Improve the health and well-being of our community.”

I invite you to join me in extending a warm welcome to Cynthia “Cyndee” McGuire in her role as MCH’s new CEO. Having served as a chief operating officer at Adirondack Health, a $90 million network of rural health facilities in upstate New York, Cyndee brings with her a wealth of experience and an impressive track record. She is a poised, articulate and personable leader. I have enjoyed getting to know her through her interview process and have every confidence in her ability to help shape the next chapter of MCH’s history.

I have been blessed to serve our hospital and am happy to report MCH is well-positioned for the future. Its many strengths include its employees, physicians, volunteers and supporters. We continue to have strong leadership on the board, medical staff and management team. As for my wife, Connie, and me, we remain lifelong supporters of this fine organization, and this fine community.
